Los patios de almacenamiento en las comunidades que rodean los puertos ahora estaban llenos de chasis desnudos en lugar de contenedores cargados.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>La tan esperada temporada alta de env\u00edos navide\u00f1os podr\u00eda no llegar.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Tanto los transportistas como los cargadores est\u00e1n acostumbrados a temporadas altas y bajas. Tradicionalmente, los meses de julio a enero se conocen como \"temporada alta\", mientras que a partir de febrero se observa un descenso, debido sobre todo al cierre de f\u00e1bricas en Asia por la festividad del A\u00f1o Nuevo Lunar.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>La pandemia interrumpi\u00f3 este ciclo de transporte tradicional desde 2021 hasta la mayor parte de 2022. Los contenedores de importaci\u00f3n cargados siguieron llegando a ambos puertos, manteniendo los camiones de los transportistas en movimiento, el flujo de caja y los ingresos en niveles r\u00e9cord, y los almacenes de todo el sur de California al m\u00e1ximo de su capacidad.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c99571f elementor-widget elementor-widget-image\" data-id=\"c99571f\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"image.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"369\" src=\"https:\/\/comexlogisticsllc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/Screenshot-2025-03-04-at-12.13.48\u202fPM-1024x472.png\" class=\"attachment-large size-large wp-image-4585\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/comexlogisticsllc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/Screenshot-2025-03-04-at-12.13.48\u202fPM-1024x472.png 1024w, https:\/\/comexlogisticsllc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/Screenshot-2025-03-04-at-12.13.48\u202fPM-300x138.png 300w, https:\/\/comexlogisticsllc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/Screenshot-2025-03-04-at-12.13.48\u202fPM-768x354.png 768w, https:\/\/comexlogisticsllc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/Screenshot-2025-03-04-at-12.13.48\u202fPM-1536x709.png 1536w, https:\/\/comexlogisticsllc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/Screenshot-2025-03-04-at-12.13.48\u202fPM-2048x945.png 2048w, https:\/\/comexlogisticsllc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/Screenshot-2025-03-04-at-12.13.48\u202fPM.webp 1920w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-08a1829 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"08a1829\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Durante este auge del transporte mar\u00edtimo, tanto los peque\u00f1os como los grandes transportistas realizaron numerosas inversiones, como la contrataci\u00f3n de conductores, la compra de camiones y la adquisici\u00f3n de chasis, debido a la casi nula disponibilidad de chasis proporcionados por los puertos (lo que se conoce como parque de chasis) en las distintas terminales.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Debido a la demanda, la escasez por problemas en la cadena de suministro y el aumento de los costes de material y mano de obra, el coste de adquisici\u00f3n de equipos nuevos y usados aument\u00f3 considerablemente durante los a\u00f1os de la pandemia en comparaci\u00f3n con los a\u00f1os anteriores a la misma, lo que carg\u00f3 de deudas a los transportistas grandes y peque\u00f1os.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>El valor de los camiones usados aument\u00f3 hasta 40% en comparaci\u00f3n con los a\u00f1os anteriores a la pandemia, en parte debido a la falta de disponibilidad de camiones nuevos para satisfacer la demanda del mercado. Los chasis nuevos durante este periodo oscilaban entre $20.000 y $30.000 por chasis, lo que requer\u00eda una gran inversi\u00f3n de capital por parte de los transportistas, normalmente de cientos de miles de d\u00f3lares, para asegurarse de que dispon\u00edan de una gran flota de chasis privados para mantener en movimiento los contenedores de sus clientes. En esta \u00e9poca, los precios de los chasis sol\u00edan oscilar entre $50 y $55 al d\u00eda, por lo que los transportistas calcularon que recuperar\u00edan su inversi\u00f3n m\u00e1s pronto que tarde.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>En octubre de 2022, el volumen de carga entrante volvi\u00f3 a disminuir, al igual que el uso de chasis privados. Los chasis del pool proporcionados por el puerto volvieron a estar disponibles en las terminales, y los transportistas ya no pod\u00edan cobrar a sus clientes $50-$55 al d\u00eda por el uso de sus chasis privados. Ahora se ve\u00edan obligados a aceptar la realidad de pagar a los astilleros de almacenamiento de terceros por almacenar sus chasis vac\u00edos, que sol\u00edan oscilar entre $30-$40 al d\u00eda por unidad, debido a la falta de volumen de carga.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Tanto los propietarios de la carga como los cargadores empezaron a pedir y recibir tarifas \"todo incluido\" de los transportistas, y algunos transportistas aceptaron renunciar a tasas como las previas a la recogida y las de almacenamiento para conservar a sus clientes.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Los cambios en la clasificaci\u00f3n de los trabajadores en virtud de la ley de California AB5 que entr\u00f3 en vigor el 1 de enero de 2020, desarraigaron el modelo de negocio com\u00fan de los transportistas de acarreo grandes y peque\u00f1os en todo California. En virtud de la ley AB5, los transportistas ya no pueden utilizar contratistas independientes para transportar sus contenedores, sino que deben convertirse en conductores por horas.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>La gran demanda de conductores hizo que muchos peque\u00f1os transportistas pagaran salarios m\u00e1s altos a sus nuevos empleados y ofrecieran planes de beneficios m\u00e1s ricos para atraer y retener a los conductores. Durante los d\u00edas en los que no hab\u00eda trabajo debido al volumen de carga, los peque\u00f1os transportistas pagaban a los conductores para que se quedaran en casa y as\u00ed evitar perderlos a manos de competidores m\u00e1s grandes que consegu\u00edan mantener sus camiones en movimiento. En beneficio de su flujo de caja, antes de AB 5 esto no habr\u00eda sido un problema, ya que los transportistas no tendr\u00edan que pagar a los contratistas independientes si no hubiera carga que mover.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Tambi\u00e9n est\u00e1 en el horizonte la fecha l\u00edmite del 31 de diciembre de 2023 para a\u00f1adir camiones di\u00e9sel y de gas natural rentables a las flotas existentes del transportista.<\/p><p>A partir del 1 de enero de 2024, las nuevas carretillas que se incorporen a las flotas de los transportistas deber\u00e1n ser de cero emisiones, como las de hidr\u00f3geno y las el\u00e9ctricas de bater\u00eda. Los camiones de hidr\u00f3geno, como el Nikola Tre FCEV, ofrecen un mejor rendimiento equivalente al di\u00e9sel en comparaci\u00f3n con los camiones el\u00e9ctricos de bater\u00eda, pero a un coste de $475.000 antes de incentivos, su coste los pone fuera del alcance de los numerosos peque\u00f1os transportistas de acarreo que operan fuera de los puertos y que dependen de sus camiones di\u00e9sel y de gas natural para su subsistencia.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Muchos peque\u00f1os transportistas tienen la sensaci\u00f3n de estar siendo expulsados del sector en favor de los grandes transportistas.
