A chassis is a piece of wheeled trucking equipment used to move ocean containers. Standard chassis have two axles and can handle 20′ and 40′ containers. Special chassis exist that can handle 45′ and 53′ containers.
What is a Triaxle Chassis?
A triaxle chassis has three axles to transport overweight containers. 20′ containers weighing over 37,000 lbs. and 40′ containers weighing over 44,000 lbs. will require a triaxle chassis to be transported safely and legally.
How Chassis Fees Affect your Shipment
A chassis will be required for a FCL shipment and will incur a daily chassis fee.
