Refrigerated Drayage
Trusted refrigerated drayage services from Los Angeles and the United States for your temperature sensitive cargo.
What's a Refrigerated Container?
Refrigerated containers, also known as reefers in the container shipping industry, are specialized containers that are built to transport fresh or frozen cargo that require temperature control. If you're importing or exporting flowers, pharmaceuticals, seafood, or meats, you'll need a reefer container.

In the majority of cases, you can tell reefer containers apart from dry cargo containers by their white exterior color. They will also have a generator set (known as genset) which powers the refrigeration unit of the container to keep your cargo frozen or fresh.

Reefer Drayage
Depending on where your reefer container is coming from, it can take anywhere from 1-3 months to arrive at the port of destination. After surviving that long journey over the ocean, the last thing you need is for your refrigerated cargo to be damaged by the drayage company responsible for delivering it to your door.

1) Temperature Monitoring: If you can't receive your container right away, we will store it at our secure storage yard. Our yard staff undergo hours of refrigerated cargo training, and they constantly monitor your reefers to make sure they are in proper working condition for delivery.

2) Reefer Repairs: More than likely your reefer container will have enough fuel to last the entire ocean voyage to its delivery location. Delays happen, and by the time it reaches the port of destination its fuel levels will be critically low. Worse yet, the equipment can be damaged at port and will require repairs. At Comex, we have the infrastructure to refuel your reefers, and our trusted reefer vendors can service and repair your reefer containers to ensure your cargo stays frozen or fresh.

3) Genset & Private Chassis: During peak and slow shipping seasons, congestion at the port terminals often occurs. Appointment times to pick up containers are limited, and a missed appointment can result in hundreds of dollars in demurrage charges. It will also delay the pickup time of your reefer containers, reducing the supply of available fuel in your reefer after its long ocean voyage.
With our private chassis and owned genset, we won't need to rely on chassis or steamship line equipment pools in order to pick up and deliver your equipment.
