Italian furniture is known for its wide range of designs and popularity in modern design. Most Italian furniture is made of hardwoods such as walnut, oak, and olive. We can arrange end-to-end furniture shipping services from all Italian seaports, such as Genoa, and from international airports such as Rome (FCO) to the U.S. at an affordable cost.
Finding a Qualified Italian Furniture Supplier
There are many artisanal furniture fabricators in Italy producing excellent and unique furniture such as chairs, tables, and more. The challenge is finding a supplier with the required certifications to export their products to the U.S., as well as the required export licenses and certifications from Italy. This includes having an EORI number from the European Union and being registered as a business with the Italian government. You can check your supplier’s registration status on the Italian government’s online business register.
Lacey Act Declaration
The Lacey Act combats illegal trafficking of wildlife, fish, and plants. It is against the law to import into the United States any illegally harvested plant or plant product, and certain products require a declaration. Wood furniture from Italy is subject to the Lacey Act. You will be required to fill out form PPQ 505 to import your Italian furniture into the U.S. We will submit this form to U.S. CBP once your cargo arrives in the U.S.
Registering as a Furniture Importer with U.S. CBP
You must register as an importer with the U.S. CBP to import furniture for commercial purposes into the U.S. We can register you as an importer on your behalf using a power of attorney. We can also assist you with purchasing a continuous entry bond if you plan on importing more than once per year.
Arrange for Air or Ocean Shipping
We can arrange an end-to-end air or ocean freight for your furniture cargo from Italy to your door in the U.S. Whether you’re shipping one pallet or a full container load, we’ve got you covered.
Clearing U.S. Customs
Upon arrival in the U.S., you must pay customs duties on the commercial value of your cargo. You must present these documents to successfully clear your furniture shipment into the U.S.
- Commercial invoice
- Bill of Lading
- Arrival Notice
- Packing List
- Lacey Act (for wood furniture)
- Certificate of Origin
